• 日本語が話せなくても大丈夫ですか？ Do I need Japanese?

  大丈夫です。これまで滞在した人の多くは、海外から来たアーティストです。
  Not at all. Most of our residents so far have come from abroad.

• 制作や発表の義務はありますか？ Is there an obligation to produce or present?

  ありません。オープンスタジオやトークは、滞在する人がやりたいと言ったときにだけ開きます。
  No. Open studios and talks happen only when residents want them.

• 家族やパートナーと来られますか？ Can I bring my family or partner?

  歓迎します。追加1名につき、レジデンスは1タームあたり100,000円、ショートステイは1週あたり30,000円です。添い寝のお子さんは無料です。
  Very welcome. For a residency, each additional person is 100,000 JPY per term. For a short stay, it is 30,000 JPY per person per week. Co-sleeping children stay free.

• 車がなくても暮らせますか？ Can I live here without a car?

  暮らせます。歩いて行けるところにコンビニとバス停があります。レジデンスなら、初日に河口湖駅まで迎えに行き、滞在中も週2回まで買い出しやリサーチにメンバーが車を出します。ショートステイには送迎も車も付かないので、移動はバスと徒歩になります。
  Yes. A convenience store and a bus stop are within walking distance. For a residency, we pick you up at Kawaguchiko Station on day one and drive you to town up to twice a week. Short stays don't include pick-up or car trips, so you get around by bus and on foot.

• どんな制作環境がありますか？ What facilities are there?

  レジデンスでは1棟をまるごと使えます。ショートステイは6号棟に泊まります。どちらでも、共有のスタジオと、大きな作品をつくれるガレージ、庭が使えます。Wi-Fiとキッチン、暮らしに要るものもそろっています。火を使う窯は無いので、陶芸とガラスの制作はできません。
  A residency gives you a whole house. Short stays are in House 6. Either way you can use the shared studio, a garage for larger work and the garden, with Wi-Fi, a kitchen and everything you need for daily life. There are no kilns or open flames, so ceramics and glass work aren't possible.

• 冬の滞在はどうですか？ What is winter like?

  かなり冷えます。どの棟にも灯油ストーブがあって、灯油代は実費でいただきます。そのかわり、晴れた冬の朝の富士山は1年でいちばんきれいです。
  Cold. The houses are heated with kerosene stoves, and fuel is billed at cost. On clear winter mornings, Mt. Fuji is at its best.

• 助成金で滞在できますか？ Can I fund the stay with a grant?

  できます。レジデンスなら、申請に要る招聘確認書（Letter of Invitation）や推薦状を、必要に応じて書きます。
  Yes. For residencies, we can write a Letter of Invitation or a letter of support for your grant application when you need one.

• 応募前に見学できますか？ Can I visit before applying?

  私たちはこの村に住んでいるので、見学はいつでも相談してください。先に連絡をもらえれば、一緒に日にちを決めます。
  We live in this village. If you would like to visit, please write to us in advance and we will arrange a date together.

• ビザは必要ですか？ Do I need a visa?

  国籍と滞在の長さによって変わるので、住んでいる国の日本大使館か領事館で確かめてください。手続きの代行はできませんが、レジデンスなら申請に使う招聘確認書（Letter of Invitation）を書きます。
  It depends on your nationality and how long you stay, so please check with the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country. We can't handle visa procedures for you, but for residencies we write a Letter of Invitation you can use in your application.

• 保険は必要ですか？ Do I need insurance?

  海外から来る方は、出発の前に、滞在の全期間をカバーする医療保険と旅行保険に入ってください。これは滞在の条件です。いつも飲んでいる薬があれば、持ってきてください。
  If you are coming from abroad, please take out medical and travel insurance in your home country that covers the whole stay. It is a condition of staying with us. Bring any regular medication you need.

• 含まれないものは何ですか？ What isn't included?

  食事は付きません（レジデンスの初日の昼ごはんだけは一緒に食べます）。通訳や翻訳、制作の助手や機材、毎日の送り迎え、作品や画材の発送、滞在のあとの保管も、こちらではできません。渡航費と画材は各自で用意してください。レジデンスのチャットは12時から20時までで、それ以外の時間は、急ぎでなければ翌日以降の返事になります。
  Meals (apart from the welcome lunch on a residency's first day), interpretation and translation, production assistants or equipment, daily rides, shipping of works and materials, and storage after the stay are not included. Travel and materials are on you too. Residency chat support runs from 12:00 to 20:00. Outside those hours we reply the next day unless it is an emergency.

• キャンセルはできますか？ What if I have to cancel?

  できます。レジデンスの場合、滞在が始まる60日前まではデポジットだけをいただきます（残りをもう払っていれば、その分は返します）。59〜30日前なら滞在費の50%、29日前を過ぎたら100%です。私たちの都合で受け入れられなくなったときは、いただいた滞在費を全額お返しします。ショートステイと合宿の条件は、特定商取引法に基づく表記を見てください。
  Yes. For a residency, up to 60 days before the start we keep the deposit only (any balance already paid is refunded); 59–30 days before, 50% of the fee; 29 days or fewer, 100%. If we have to cancel on our side, everything you have paid is refunded in full. For short stays and retreats, see the commerce disclosure.
